Sermon Notes

  • Scripture: Co 2:6-10

6 So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, 7 rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness. 8 See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ. 9 For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form, 10 and in Christ you have been brought to fullness. He is the head over every power and authority.

  • Scripture: John 15:5-7

5 “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. 6 If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. 7 If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. (John 15:5-7)

  • The Great Commandment:

To love the Lord our God with all our hearts, soul, mind and strength; and to love our neighbours as ourselves. (cf. Matt 22:37-40; Mk 12:30-31; Lk 10:27)

  • Every believer must know and carry out God's mandate in their life.

As Christians, we must use this God-given mandate to deal with what is happening in this sin-filled world, to reach out to the many lives that are dying without God.

  • Scripture: Daniel 2

In the second year of his reign, Nebuchadnezzar had dreams; his mind was troubled and he could not sleep. 2 So the king summoned the magicians, enchanters, sorcerers and astrologers[a] to tell him what he had dreamed. When they came in and stood before the king, 3 he said to them, ‘I have had a dream that troubles me and I want to know what it means...’
