Always Abounding in Serving the Body
🌟 Sermon Summary: Always Abounding in Serving the Body | Pastor Peter Lui | 19 Oct 2025 🌟
In this week’s message, Pastor Peter Lui shared that serving the body of Christ is both a calling and a privilege. Drawing from 1 Corinthians 15:58, he reminded us that serving the church is part of abounding in the work of the Lord. Our service is patterned after Christ, motivated by love, gratitude, and the hope of eternal reward.
✝️ 1. The Mandate to Serve
Serving the church is commanded by Christ, not optional. In John 13, Jesus demonstrated servanthood by washing His disciples’ feet—a task reserved for the lowest household servant. By doing so, He gave us an enduring example of humility and obedience.
Just as Jesus said, “I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you,” we too are called to serve others, not for recognition but out of love and gratitude for what He has done. True greatness in God’s kingdom is found not in status, but in servanthood.
💧 2. The Manner of Service
How we serve matters just as much as what we do. Pastor Peter highlighted three attitudes for Christlike service:
Serve with Humility – Like Christ who “made Himself nothing, taking the nature of a servant” (Philippians 2:5–8).
Serve with Excellence and Faithfulness – Whatever we do, do it wholeheartedly as unto the Lord (Colossians 3:23–24).
Serve with Love – Without love, all service becomes empty noise (1 Corinthians 13:1–3). Love gives meaning and beauty to every act of service.
True servants serve behind the scenes, faithfully and joyfully, even when unseen by others—because their audience is God.
❤️ 3. The Motivation to Serve
Service flows from a heart filled with love for Christ, gratitude for salvation, and the hope of eternal reward.
We serve because we love Jesus, desiring to please Him.
We serve out of gratitude, offering our bodies as living sacrifices (Romans 12:1).
We serve with hope, knowing that “our labor in the Lord is never in vain.” (1 Corinthians 15:58)
Even when service feels unnoticed, God sees every act done for Him. Our efforts are not wasted; they are investments in eternity. Faithful servants will one day hear the words:
“Well done, good and faithful servant. Enter into the joy of your Master.”
🌿 Final Encouragement
Serving the church is not a chore but an act of worship. It is a reflection of Christ’s love and a testimony of faith to the world.
Let’s serve wholeheartedly—with humility, love, and gratitude—until the day we stand before our Lord and hear Him say, “Well done.”
