Transformed by the Grace of God

Transformed by the Grace of God

🌟 Sermon Summary: Transformed by the Grace of God | Pastor Catherine Chan | 21 Sept 2025 🌟

This week, Pastor Catherine Chan reminded us that God’s grace is not just something we receive—it is a transforming power that changes how we live, how we relate, and who we are. Drawing from Titus 3:1–7, she highlighted three key truths:

1️⃣ Grace Keeps Us Humble
Paul urged believers to be subject to rulers, to obey, and to be ready for every good work (v.1).

  • Humility is not natural to us—our sinful instinct resists authority.

  • But grace transforms prideful hearts into hearts willing to submit, serve, and live honourably under God’s order.

  • In our homes, schools, and workplaces, humility shaped by grace means showing honour, respect, and faithfulness in all we do.

2️⃣ Grace Keeps Us Meek
Paul instructed believers to slander no one, to be peaceable, considerate, and gentle toward all (v.2).

  • Meekness is not weakness but strength under control.

  • Grace empowers us to tame our tongues, to respond with gentleness when wronged, and to live peaceably even with opponents.

  • Like Corrie Ten Boom, who forgave her Nazi captor, we too can extend forgiveness and gentleness because of the grace we have received.

3️⃣ Grace Redefines Our Identity
Paul contrasted who we once were—foolish, disobedient, enslaved by passions, full of envy and hate (v.3)—with who we are now by God’s mercy (vv.4–7).

  • We were pardoned, washed, and regenerated by the Holy Spirit.

  • Grace is not cosmetic—it is an inside-out transformation, like broken pottery restored and made more beautiful with gold (Kintsugi).

  • We are now justified, declared righteous, and given the hope of eternal life.

✨ The Power of Grace:

  • Grace transforms pride into humility.

  • Grace transforms harshness into gentleness.

  • Grace transforms our broken past into a testimony of God’s mercy.

As Pastor Catherine reminded us:

“Grace does not just save us—it transforms us.”

Let us live as people who know we have been pardoned, renewed, and given a new identity in Christ. May our lives reflect the honour of the One who gave us a second chance.
