Being Christ Disciple at Home

Being Christ Disciple at Home

On 10 August 2025, Pastor Derek Sim shared a timely message on the theme Being a Disciple at Home. Drawing from Scripture, he reminded us that our homes are the primary place of discipleship—a place where God’s Kingdom is first built, where character is shaped, and where the love of Christ should be most evident.

Pastor Derek pointed to God’s mandate for the family from creation, through the examples of Noah, Abraham, and even Jesus’ upbringing, to show that the home has always been central in God’s plan for His people. Whether we live with a family of believers or are the only Christian in our household, we are called to reflect Christ through our actions, words, and daily habits.

He encouraged us to:

  1. Be grounded in God’s Word – Hunger for Scripture, study it personally and as a family, and make it a visible and regular part of home life.

  2. Live out what we read – Build spiritual habits such as prayer, worship, and conversations about faith; model a genuine walk with God; and create a spiritually rich environment where faith is nurtured.

The true test of discipleship is not how we act at church but how we live behind closed doors. Pastor Derek challenged us to embody our faith, so that those at home can see Christ in us and be drawn to Him. Let us be disciples where it matters most—at home—so that God’s Kingdom will grow starting from our own households.
