Devoted to Doing Good
🌟 Sermon Summary: Devoted to Doing Good | Pastor Peter Lui | 28 Sept 2025 🌟
In the closing message of the Healthy Church series, Pastor Peter Lui reminded us that true Christian faith produces fruitful lives devoted to doing good. From Titus 3:8–15, Paul shows how grace and good works are inseparably linked—our salvation is by grace alone, but it always leads to lives overflowing with visible acts of love.
🔑 Three Key Lessons:
1️⃣ Cultivate Fruitful Faith
Faith is not just belief—it bears fruit through intentional living, consistent action, and visible witness.
Good works must be deliberate, continuous, and practical—proof of our salvation and a testimony to the watching world.
“Be careful to devote yourselves to doing what is good… these things are excellent and profitable for everyone.” (Titus 3:8)
2️⃣ Confront Fatal Factions
The church must avoid foolish controversies, petty quarrels, and divisive arguments that destroy unity.
For minor irritations, Paul urges: avoid them with prudence and discernment.
But for persistent divisiveness, firm discipline is needed—not out of animosity, but to protect the body and restore the offender when possible.
Forgiveness releases resentment; discipline safeguards the flock. Both are expressions of love.
3️⃣ Commit to Fraternal Fellowship
The church is called to support gospel workers generously, just as Titus was told to provide for Zenas and Apollos.
Good works include meeting practical needs, living productive lives, and serving sacrificially.
Paul highlights the Philippians as a model of generous giving—reminding us that our generosity is a fragrant offering pleasing to God, and He will supply all our needs.
✨ Final Challenge:
As Pastor Peter concluded, a healthy church is one that:
Cultivates fruitful faith in daily good works.
Confronts division with wisdom and courage.
Commits to fellowship by serving and supporting one another.
Let us be a people who not only believe, but who live out our faith in action—so that others may see our good works and glorify our Father in heaven (Matthew 5:16).
