Forever Grateful to God

Forever Grateful to God

🌟 Sermon Summary: Forever Grateful to God | Pastor Peter Lui | 29 June 2025 🌟

In his sermon titled “Forever Grateful to God,” Pastor Peter Lui takes us into 1 Peter 1:3–5, reminding us that the believer’s heart should always overflow with gratitude—not for what’s temporary, but for what is eternal.

From regeneration to inheritance to preservation, our entire journey in Christ is saturated with grace.
Here are the three key reasons we can always be grateful:

1️⃣ Gratitude for Our Regeneration (v.3)

📖 “He has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.” – 1 Peter 1:3

  • Meaning of Regeneration: We were spiritually dead, but God gave us new life.

  • Means of Regeneration: Not by our works, but by His great mercy through Jesus.

  • Results of Regeneration: We now have a living hope—not wishful thinking, but a confident expectation rooted in Christ’s resurrection.

🟡 Reference Slide: Ephesians 2:4–9 — “By grace… it is the gift of God… so that no one may boast.”

2️⃣ Gratitude for Our Inheritance (v.4)

📖 “…an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade.”

  • Nature of the Inheritance:

    • Imperishable: It can’t decay.

    • Undefiled: It’s perfectly holy.

    • Unfading: It won’t lose value or glory.

  • Security of the Inheritance: It is kept in heaven for us.

  • Personalisation: It’s ours—not abstract, but specifically given to each believer.

🟡 Reference Slide: John 10:28–29 — “No one can snatch them out of My hand.”

3️⃣ Gratitude for Our Preservation (v.5)

📖 “…who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation…”

  • Agent of Preservation: God Himself is the one guarding us.

  • Means: We are shielded through faith, not performance.

  • Goal: To be brought safely home, presented blameless before His glory.

🟡 Reference Slide: Jude 24–25 — “To Him who is able to keep you from stumbling…”

🙌 Final Reflection:

We were undeserving.
Yet we were regenerated.
We had no future.
Yet we received an eternal inheritance.
We were weak.
Yet we are preserved by divine power.

Let us live each day in full gratitude, with hearts that worship and lives that reflect His mercy.
We are forever grateful to God—because everything we are and hope for is in Him.
