Scripture: Rom 8:32

God who did not spare His own Son, but gave Him up for us all—how will He not also, along with Him, graciously give us all things?

Scripture: Exo 33:15-16

15 Then Moses said to him, “If your Presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here. 16 How will anyone know that you are pleased with me and with your people unless you go with us?What else will distinguish me and your people from all the other people on the face of the earth?”

Scripture: Jn 13:34-35

34 A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. 35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.

Scripture: Isa 9:6

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Scripture: Mt 11:28-30

28 Come to me, all you who weary (labor) and burdened (heavy laden), and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

The symptoms and the illness are not the same thing. The illness exists long before the symptoms appear. Rather than being the cause of the illness, the symptoms are the beginning of its treatment. The fact that they are unwanted makes them all the more a phenomenon of grace - a gift of God, a message from the unconscious, if you will, to initiate self-examination and repair.
