The Humble King

This past Sunday, as we entered Holy Week, Pastor Derek Sim led us into the heart of Palm Sunday—when Jesus entered Jerusalem, not to overthrow governments, but to overthrow sin with love and sacrifice.

His message, “The Humble King,” explored Christ’s triumphant yet humble entry and challenged us to adopt the same mindset of humility, servanthood, and obedience.

1️⃣ Jesus Came in Humility
📖 “He made Himself of no reputation…” – Philippians 2:7

• Jesus, though fully God, chose to lower Himself, entering Jerusalem on a donkey—not a war horse.

• He didn’t cling to glory; instead, He emptied Himself to serve and save.

• We are reminded that true greatness comes from humility, not status or titles.

🧠 Question: Are there areas in our lives where pride is crowding out humility?

2️⃣ Jesus Lived as a Servant
📖 “Taking the form of a servant…” – Philippians 2:7

• From washing His disciples’ feet to healing the sick, Jesus modeled radical servanthood.

• Serving isn’t a one-time act—it’s a lifestyle and calling for every believer.

• The question isn’t “Will I serve?”—it’s “Am I serving with the heart of Jesus?”

🧠 Challenge: Am I using my talents to build others up or only for personal gain?

3️⃣ Jesus Walked in Obedience
📖 “He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.” – Philippians 2:8

• Jesus didn’t obey halfway—He followed the Father’s will fully, even when it led to the cross.

• Obedience isn’t always easy—but it always glorifies God.

🧠 Self-check: Am I willing to surrender my comfort, pride, or plans in obedience to God?

🌿 Palm Sunday reminds us of this truth:

Our King is not only powerful—He is humble.
And He calls us to reflect His character in a world that desperately needs light and love.
