Watch and Pray, Go and Preach

Watch and Pray, Go and Preach

🌿 Sermon Title: Watch and Pray, Go and Preach
👤 Speaker: Pastor Glen Lim
📅 Date: 2 November 2025
📖 Main Passages: Matthew 26:41, Luke 10:2, Acts 1:8

Pastor Glen delivered a passionate call for believers to awaken to their God-given mission in these last days. With the world growing darker, the Church must rise to be light — not merely watching from the sidelines but stepping out in obedience and boldness.

Jesus’ words — “Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation” (Matthew 26:41) — remind us to stay spiritually alert. We are not called to be “pew-warmers” but soul-winners, actively sharing the hope of Christ with those around us.

🔹 1. Watch – Stay Alert

We are called to be spiritually awake and aware of three key areas:

  • Satan’s tactics – guarding our hearts and lives from temptation and distraction.

  • People’s needs – noticing the hurting, anxious, and searching souls around us.

  • Jesus’ return – living ready for His coming, which could be at any moment.

Pastor Glen urged believers not to be too busy or distracted to see those slipping away from God. Like watchmen, we must sound the alarm and reach the lost before it’s too late.

🔹 2. Pray – Seek God’s Power

Prayer connects us to the Holy Spirit’s power and prepares hearts to receive the Gospel. We are to pray for:

  • Ourselves – that God gives us courage and compassion to obey His call (Luke 10:2).

  • Open doors – for opportunities to share Christ (Colossians 4:3).

  • Open hearts – that the Holy Spirit softens hearts to receive His word.

  • Boldness – to speak with love and truth even when it’s uncomfortable.

Pastor Glen shared his testimony of praying for his father’s salvation for years — and how, by God’s mercy, his father came to Christ just days before passing away. A powerful reminder: never give up praying for your loved ones.

🔹 3. Go – Step Out in Faith

The Great Commission is not optional — it’s a command. Jesus said, “Go and make disciples of all nations.” (Matthew 28:19)
“Go” means leaving our comfort zones — whether it’s our home, school, workplace, or neighborhood. Each of us has our “Jerusalem” (local circle), “Judea and Samaria” (wider reach), and “Ends of the Earth” (global missions) as found in Acts 1:8.

We are Christ’s witnesses everywhere we go.

🔹 4. Preach – Share the Good News

Preaching isn’t only from the pulpit — it’s telling others what Jesus has done in your life.
We can:

  • Preach with our lives – letting our actions match our words.

  • Preach with our story – sharing how Christ changed us.

  • Preach the Gospel – the simple truth that Jesus saves sinners and offers eternal life.

As Pastor Glen said:

“You can’t tell people about Jesus with your mouth shut.
Open your eyes to watch, open your heart to pray, open your hands to go, and open your mouth to preach.”

💡 Practical Challenge

  • Today: Identify one person — a family member, friend, or co-worker — you’ll commit to reach.

  • This week: Pray daily for that person by name.

  • This month: Find a way to share Christ — through kindness, a conversation, or a simple act of love.

The time is short. The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few (Luke 10:2). Let’s rise to the call — to watch, pray, go, and preach until the world hears of Jesus.
