Why Are You Still Here?

Rev. Lawrence Seow stirred our hearts with a powerful message titled:
“Why Are You Still Here?”
If God’s only purpose in saving us was to bring us to heaven, we’d already be there. But we’re still here—because He has a greater purpose for us.

Here are the 3 key truths from his sermon:

1️⃣ Be Filled with the Holy Spirit
📖 Ephesians 5:18 – “Be filled with the Spirit.”

We are spiritual beings, created in God’s image—and we cannot fulfill our calling without His Spirit.
Just like ships are not made to remain in the harbour, we are not saved to remain stagnant.
When we’re filled with the Holy Spirit, we are empowered to live holy lives and become effective witnesses in a broken world.

✝️ “The Holy Spirit makes us holy. Sin is trying to be happy without God.”

2️⃣ Honour God with Your Life
📖 Deuteronomy 6:13 – “Honor the Lord your God.”

Honouring God means putting Him first above all else—our dreams, success, recognition, or comfort.
It’s not wrong to desire wealth or success—but when these things become our sole pursuit, they replace God.
When we honour God, He honours us. Rev. Lawrence shared how God provided miraculously for his family over 30 years of ministry without a salary.

💬 “When you ask God for the right thing, He gives you everything.”

3️⃣ Be a Witness for Christ
📖 Romans 1:16 – “I am not ashamed of the Gospel.”

We are still here because others still need to hear the Gospel.
Don’t settle for a “country club” church experience—we are a life-saving station, not a comfort zone.
God didn’t call the most qualified—He uses the willing.
Whether we feel ready or not, we’re called to step out, speak up, and shine His light.

🧭 “You’re not here because you’re good—you’re here because God is good.”

💡 Final Reflection:

God saved you for a reason.
You’re here to be filled, faithful, and fruitful.
Don’t let your days pass by without fulfilling your calling.
Live with urgency. Share the Good News. Honour the God who gave you life.
