Come to the Well
🌟 Sermon Summary: Come to the Well | Pastor Derek Foo 🌟
Last Sunday, Pastor Derek Foo reminded us that God invites us to come to Him just as we are—without pretenses, without facades. Just like how we prepare to see the dentist, we sometimes try to appear fine when coming to church. But God sees beyond appearances; He desires our hearts.
Looking at John 4, where Jesus meets the Samaritan woman at the well, we discover three kinds of people who approach God:
1️⃣ The Lonely – The Samaritan woman came to the well expecting nothing. Many of us feel distant from God, thinking we are unworthy of His attention. But Jesus is the one who initiates the conversation—He calls out to us because He loves us.
2️⃣ The Prejudiced – Some come to church with preconceived ideas of God—limiting Him to our past experiences or personal expectations. We say, “God, answer me in this way, do this like before.” But Jesus tells us in John 4:13-14 that He gives living water—not bound by form, but able to meet every unique need.
3️⃣ The Thirsty – God desires those who come with a genuine heart, seeking more of Him. “A time is coming and has now come when the true worshippers will worship the Father in Spirit and in truth.” (John 4:23) He is looking for open hearts, surrendered lives, and an expectation for His presence.
🔑 Key Scripture: John 4:10, 23-24
💡 Are you coming to the well today?
➡️ Are you thirsty for more of God?
➡️ Are you allowing Him to fill you, or are you holding back?
➡️ Are you open to encountering Him in a fresh, new way?
Let’s come to the well not just with routine, but with genuine hearts that thirst for Him. Earthly things leave us dry, but only Jesus truly satisfies.
